Weld Mold 309 stainless deposits a smooth, porosity-free, austenitic stainless bead in the 25% chrome and 12% nickel range.

Applications

This wire is for welding 309 types stainless to itself or to alloyed steels. They also can be used for welding 301, 302, 304, 305 and 308 type stainless steels. 309 also welds many combinations of dissimilar metals.

Procedure

Clean all areas to be welded and keep interpass temperatures as low as possible while welding on 300 series stainless steels.

GMAW - DC+ (short circuit) 92%Ar/8% CO2 or 90% He 7.5% Ar 2.5% CO2
FCAW - DC+, 75% Ar 25% CO2 or 100% CO2
GTAW - DC- 100%Ar
