Weld Mold® 41-B
41-B provides an excellent color match on cast iron and is readily machinable. Being a true cast iron, 41-B does not produce hard spots caused by carbon migration as encountered in conventional welding practices.
For Oxyacetylene welding buildup and joining of iron castings such as: machine bases, motor blocks, gear housings, and other cast iron parts.
Preheat material to 1000ºF to ensure optimal results. After welding wrap material with thermal blanket to slow cool. Using a neutral flame melt a small amount of Polyflux® from the rod onto the beginning of the weld. When the flux liquefies start depositing Polyrod® 41-B a drop at a time. Keep the torch on a low angle and in motion continually melting the base metal as filler metal is applied.
