Weld Mold® 2553
Weld Mold 2553 is a duplex stainless steel alloy containing nitrogen. This material combines increased tensile strength with improved resistance to pitting corrosive attack and to stress corrosion cracking.
Applications
This electrode is primarily used for welding duplex stainless steels, which contain approximately 2 – 5% chromium. Suited for offshore oil fields. Also used on Ferralium 255.
Procedure
Clean all areas to weld of any foreign matter. To avoid HAZ problems such as loss of corrosion resistance and toughness or of post-weld cracking, the welding procedure should focus on minimizing total time at temperature in the “red hot” range for the whole procedure rather than managing the heat input for any one pass.
