Weld Mold® 4010
Weld Mold 4010 is the most versatile welding alloy in the Weld Mold family of aluminum bronzes. It exhibits excellent mechanical properties for joining with an exceptionally low coefficient of friction for overlays. Which is beneficial in applications that involve sliding metal-to-metal wear.
Applications
A universal aluminum bronze alloy used for joining cast and malleable iron, yellow brass, galvanized steel, tool steels, copper and its alloys including copper-nickel alloys as well as a wide variety of dissimilar combinations. 4010 deposits are used to overlay bearings, wear and corrosion resistant surfaces such as hydraulic pistons, oxygen lance heads and pickling hooks. When overlaying keep dilution of base material to a minimum.
Procedure
Clean weld areas of all foreign matter and debris. When overlaying iron base metals apply first layer at lowest possible amperage and weave to keep the base metal dilution to a minimum. Apply three passes where possible, keeping in mind that all slag must be thoroughly removed between passes.
