Weld Mold® 4040
Weld Mold 4040 is a manganese-nickel-aluminum bronze alloy with high to corrosion, erosion and cavitation.
Applications
This alloy is also very suitable for welding on cast iron and some ship propellers. Ideal for ship propellers composed of Ampcoloy alloy 495.
Procedure
For best results, clean area of all matter and debris. Make sure the joint area is dry, as moisture will have a tendency to cause porosity. In overlaying iron base metals, apply the first layer at the lowest amperage possible and weave to keep the base metal dilution to a minimum. Apply three passes where possible, keeping in mind that all slag must be thoroughly removed between beads. A 300ยบ F preheat and interpass temperature is recommended.
