Weld Mold® 4115
4115 is an all-positional, coated electrode, which deposits a NiCrMo alloy with additions of W and Nb.
Applications
This electrode is specifically designed for welding of 9% Ni steels for cryogenic applications down to -195°C. Another industrial application is for the construction and repair welding of high strength cold-tough 3, 5 and 9% Ni-steels used for transportation and storage tanks of liquid natural gas.
Procedure
4115 is commonly run DC+ polarity however if arc blow is an issue than 4115 can run on alternating current (AC) which will alleviate the magnetic forces that cause arc blow. Joints must be exempt from grease, cracks and any other form of contaminant. Guide electrodes with a slight declination, weld with a short arc and avoid high heat input by applying the stringer bead technique (weaving max. 2-3 times core wire Dia.)
