Weld Mold® 4200
An aluminum bronze alloy used primarily for overlay and surfacing applications. Weld deposits exhibit high strength and hardness coupled with good ductility.
Applications
Used where high hardness is required due to heavy loading, primarily on bearing surfaces. Excellent wear resistance coupled with anti-galling and low coefficient of friction properties.
Procedure
For best results clean weld area of all foreign matter and debris. For the GMAW process a gas flow of 45-55 CFH is needed to insure a bright clean weld. Use a push technique with the gun at a 35° to 45° angle. A pre-heat of 1000°F is recommended when welding on pure copper. When using the GTAW process employ an arc length of 1/16″ to 3/1″ should be maintained with the tungsten extended 1/4″ to 3/8″ beyond the cup. A dip technique similar to welding aluminum is recommended.
GMAW - DC+,100% Ar
GTAW - ACHF or DC-,100% He or 100% Ar Use 2% Thorium Tungsten
