Weld Mold® 430
Weld Mold 430 is a smooth running material with minimum spatter in the straight chromium stainless steel category. Used in some areas where heat and corrosion resistance is required such as where chloride and nitric acids are causing stress cracking at elevated temperatures.
Applications
This alloy is used for cladding rolls in the steel industry and other steel mill applications – 430 stainless, 440 A, B and C, and casting ACI CB-30 are also welded with 430 stainless. Also used for cladding on low alloy steels for wear, corrosion and oxidation resistance.
Procedure
Clean area to be welded and use reverse polarity. Pre-heat 300ºF to 500ºF before welding is recommended.
SMAW - DC+
