Weld Mold® 4940
Weld Mold 4940 is a copper, nickel, chromium, aluminum bronze bare wire. Weld Mold 4940 has excellent thermal conductivity wear resistance and corrosion resistance.
Applications
A high performance, high thermal conductivity copper alloy commonly utilized by the injection and blow molding industries as well as others in the molding industry as an alternative product for welding beryllium copper. Also used for welding Ampco® 940 molds.
Procedure
For GTAW direct current straight polarity (DCSP) is preferred but alternating current with high frequency (ACHF) can be used. 100% helium is recommended for most applications. 100% argon or a mixture of argon and helium can be used. 40 to 55 CFH is desirable.
GMAW - DC+, 100% Ar
GTAW - ACHF or DC-,
100% He,
100% Ar, or
He/Ar Mixture
