Weld Mold® Polytrode® H.D. 510
Description
Weld Mold 510 “Five & Dime” is a uniquely designed, self-shielded flux cored alloy that displays excellent versatility for out-of-position high deposition welding with a soft, low penetrating arc.
Applications
Weld Mold 510 is widely used for foundry slag pots and ladles, forging hammer bases and columns, high sulfur steels, some low alloy steels, mild steels, and many “field” repair applications. With it’s stringer bead capability, it’s outperforms all others when used for fabricating structures, machinery, assemblies and repair of heavy duty off road equipment. Also used as an underlay prior to surfacing with higher alloys.
Procedure
Remove all dirt, oil, and defects. Preheat should be determined by the base material, maintain temperature during welding. Peening is critical to mechanically relieve stresses when flood welding small or large cavities. For slag pot repair, a 200°F has proven to be effective.
