Weld Mold® Polytrode® H.D. 515
Description
Weld Mold 515 electrodes are produced in ten different diameters from 3/32†(2.4mm) to ¾†(19.1mm). The specially formulated high energy coating assures long storage life and produces dense weld deposits, with deposition rates of up to 60 pounds per hour. Expressly developed for welding both wrought and cast steel structures.
Applications
Weld Mold 515 is used for the fabrication and build-up of structures, machinery bases and assemblies and heavy off road earth moving equipment. With a tensile strength of up to 115,000 psi, it is also used for the repair of foundry slag pots, hot car buggies and basic oxygen furnaces and nose cones.
Procedure
Remove all defects and surface contaminants. Preheat is determined by the base material. On heavy sections or when flood welding, a minimum of 600°F should be used, maintain temperature during welding. Peening is critical to mechanically relieve stresses when flood welding small or large cavities. It is recommended that once welding has been completed, the pre-heat be re-established for 2-3 hours, with a slow cool to room temperature.
