Weld Mold® 673
Weld Mold 673 is a premium high nickel base, chromium-tungsten-molybdenum wear facing alloy used to resist heat and heavy impact. Weld deposits rapidly work harden under impact from an as-welded hardness of Rockwell C 25 up to Rockwell C 45. Weld Mold 673 resists oxidation, corrosion, and mechanical stresses and performs very well under high compression and will retain its hardness up to 1000º F.
Applications
Hot working tools including forging dies, tong bits, shear blades, trimmers, draw punches, extrusion pots and forming and reducer rolls. Parts subject to thermal shock under stresses that result in chipping, spalling or cracking. Used as an overlay to resist corrosion on parts subject to oxidizing and reducing atmospheres and liquids at temperatures up to 2000º F.
Procedure
Remove old welds and clean surface to be welded. Do not pre-heat except when welding alloy steels. Can be used as a multi-layer build-up.
