Weld Mold® 927
Weld Mold 927 is a flame hardenable chrome/moly alloy for build-up or joining AISI 4140 castings, forgings and structures, or for overlaying lower alloy steels.
Applications
For the repair and build-up of dies, forgings, castings, shafts, machined parts made from medium carbon low alloy series steel and many other uses. Also used for joining sections of 4140 steels when heat treatment or flame hardening is required.
Procedure
Remove all defects and surface contaminants. Preheat will be dictated by base metal, maintain temperature during welding utilizing short arc lengths. Peening is recommended to mechanically relieve stresses when welding heavy sections. It is recommended that once welding has been completed, re-established the pre-heat for 2-3 hours, with a slow cool to room temperature. Temper according to the base metal requirements.
