Weld Mold Polywear® 9460
Weld Mold 9460 is a high chromium carbide wear facing alloy that out-wears conventional electrodes in this category. The uniformly extruded coating and special core wire assures low temperature fusion with a minimum of penetration to the base metal. Welds take a high polish and maintain their hardness up to 900° F.
Applications
Weld Mold 9460 is used where resistance and toughness are required on all steels. Typical examples include: muller plows, crusher jaws, pulverizing rollers, dipper teeth, cams, clutch parts, bucket lips, conveyor screws and hot rolling dies.
Procedure
Remove all defects and surface contaminants. Do not preheat except when welding alloy steels. Use short arc gap and deposit a two layer thickness for optimum results. Occasionally relief checks may occur, however, they will not lower the wear resistance of the welded deposit. Cool slowly to prevailing temperature. Use Polytrode 515 or Polytrode 510 FCO for a base when heavy build-up is required.
